One Week on and More Litter

Llantarnam ponds

5th of August, 2024

Considering it's the summer holidays, Llantarnam ponds have been relatively quiet, with minimal litter and fishing line discarded by irresponsible fishermen.

However, a large amount was collected last Monday, on 29 July, which had been dumped on Sunday.

Fast forward one week, and the same thing has happened again. A large collection of litter, including sweetcorn cans, beer bottles and cans, plastic bottles and small plastic packages that contained fishing hooks has been dumped by the water's edge.

On a slightly better note, no discarded fishing line was found, though it's unbelievably difficult to see for the average human, let alone a poor animal.

As usual, all this litter was found between bays 1 and 3 on pond number 2.

Again, it's unlikely that Cwmbran Angling Association were monitoring the site over the weekend, and checking whether those responsible had fishing licences.

All the litter has been removed by volunteers.
